Victorian Language Of Flowers |
The Language of Flowers - sometimes called floriography, was a means of communication in the Victorian-era. Flowers and foliage were used to send coded messages from an admirer, allowing individuals to express feelings which otherwise could not be spoken. This language was most commonly communicated through ‘tussie mussies’ (small flower posies.)

The meaning of each item used in the 'Language of Love Bouquet |
Taken from the language of flowers little hand book written in 1913

Red rose buds symbolize passionate love, Myrtle means love and was used in early wedding bouquets, rosemary is for remembrance and was famously quoted by Shakespear (“There's rosemary, that's for remembrance; pray, love, remember.”), ivy means fidelity, camelia japonica leaves and buds (red means loveliness, white means unpretending excellence.)
